Introducing SeeSay in Deep Ellum!

The Deep Ellum Safe program has also added significant data-gathering capabilities with the adoption of the See Say app. The See Say app, also used by DART and Downtown Dallas Inc., allows for users to quickly and effectively report issues from trash to incidents in progress in under a minute. The app is integrated with the existing Deep Ellum Safe hotline number, 214-449-1493. So residents, employees and visitor alike may call, text or use the app to report issues in Deep Ellum twenty four hours per day.

Safe & Secure District

Deep Ellum Safe

The Deep Ellum Public Safety Program (DEPS) is a community-driven initiative to enhance and promote public safety in the Deep Ellum Public Improvement District. We take a multi-pronged approach to supporting the vibrancy and activity in Deep Ellum as this important commercial and growing residential area continues to thrive and attract high levels of vitality.

Call or text the public safety hotline anytime, any day: 214-449-1493

Lighting

As a district active at nearly all times of day, it is important to have great lighting to promote safe access for pedestrians, cars and other modes alike. At DEF, we annually conduct a neighborhood lighting assessment and partner with the City of Dallas, Oncor, and local property owners to enhance sidewalk and street lighting as well as rid the neighborhood of dark spots.

In 2019, we focused upon improving lighting underneath highway I-345, upon area parking lots, and at Deep Ellum’s designated rideshare zones. With our partners, we were proud to achieve an approximate 65% improvement in lighting up these priority spots including Canton and Taylor Streets between Deep Ellum and the Farmer’s Market.

Manpower

The Deep Ellum Foundation hires up to 25 off-duty officers to patrol the district on our busiest nights and weekends. Additionally, we fund security guards and partner with the Dallas Police Department, local property owners and businesses to advance a coordinated approach to making Deep Ellum safe each day.

Cameras

In 2019, DEF kicked off a Camera Campaign to enhance security coverage of the public right-of-way. There are now more than 35 cameras across Deep Ellum, providing the Deep Ellum Safe team real-time visibility of our public sidewalks and streets.

DEF continues to look for partners to help achieve more coverage for the neighborhood. If you are interested in donating or hosting a camera, email stephanie@deepellumtexas.com.
